There are many canoe trip outfitters in Ely as
well as on the Gunflint Trail on the eastern side of BWCAW.
What distinguishes JORDAN's from all
the rest?
|
1- We are the ONLY outfitter who COMPLETELY
OUTFITS JUST ONE PARTY A DAY. All our attention is given to you
before your trip starts. You are NOT going to be 6th, 8th, or
10th in line waiting for your outfitter to talk with you, answer
your questions, go over your route with you, show you how you're
packed up, etc. YOU are our ONLY party being completely outfitted
that day.
2- We offer our completely outfitted parties and even partial
outfitted parties renting a canoe or more per two people, OVERNIGHT
ACCOMMODATIONS and a BREAKFAST of Danish, Cereal, fresh fruit, orange drink, and coffee
before their trip starts at NO CHARGE
|
 |
3-We are the ONLY outfitter to offer our
parties, even Scout Troops and church groups, shuttle service between
Minneapolis Airport and our base outside of Ely.
4- Jordan's Wilderness Shop and Outfitters is
owned by Doug Jordan, who has guided between 500-1000 people on
canoe trips into the BWCAW and Quetico Park. He has had over 30
years in the
outfitting business, as well, outfitting from a base on Nym Lake
on the north side of Quetico Park for 5 years before coming to
Ely in the early 70s.
 |
He is also the author of "A
Wilderness Canoe Trip", a book detailing all of the planning
for a wilderness canoe trip. Now these features wouldn't mean a
thing if we didn't also supply you with the finest, lightest, and
most complete outfitting available for your canoe trip. After
all, if you're going to spend six or seven days out in the
wilderness, you need outstanding equipment.
|
We feature:
- Eureka's TimberLITE Apex 3-man tents for two
people (plus 6.5 lbs.)
- Slumberjack's Everest Elite Micro Loft or
Quallofill Sleeping bags (2 lbs. 11 ounces or 3 lbs. and
ALWAYS washed after each use.)
- Slumberjack and Thermarest Sleeping pads of air and
foam. (Two inches wider than the Therm-A-Rests and the
full length one is just 3 lbs.) (It is so important that
you get a good night's sleep if you're paddling,
portaging, or fishing all day long.)
- Stainless steel cook kits (complete with
silverware, cups, and plates) These are lighter than the
aluminum ones and you don't have to worry about the
aluminum coming off in your food.
- Ultra Light weight wide blade paddles, either bent shaft
or straight, by Camp Paddle of New York. "It's like paddling with
nothing in my hands" a customer has told us.
- A Coated Nylon Kitchen Fly
- A Coated Nylon 6' x 8' canoe tarp to cover your gear in
the canoe.
- Alumacraft Voyageur canoes 56 lbs.
- Wenonah Kevlar canoes 42 pounds.
- Souris River 17Ft Kevlar canoes 42 pounds.
Souris River 181/2Ft 52 pounds.
